Ethereality

English — Kantarama Gahigiri is a Rwandan filmmaker holding a Master’s Degree in both Cinema and International Relations. She is currently developing the feature film Tanzanite, a futuristic, female driven eco-conscious odyssey that takes place in 2045 Kenya. Kantarama wrote and directed Ethereality, a short film about migration and the sense of belonging. The film has been selected at Chicago International Film Festival (2020), and screened previously at Clermont-Ferrand (2020) and Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (2019). Tapis Rouge, her first feature has been screened and awarded worldwide including TV5Monde Best Francophone Feature Film and Best Directing Awards, followed by a theatrical release in Switzerland and in France (2017). Kantarama is an alumna of Realness Institute Residency (South Af rica 2018), Artists in Residency – AIR (Australia 2019), La Fabrique Cin ma at 72nd Cannes Film Festival (2019), Zurich Film Festival Masterclass (Switzerland 2019), 5x5x5 Residency at Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (Switzerland 2019), and of Le Moulin d’And  – C CI Residency (France 2020).

French — Kantarama Gahigiri est un cinéaste rwandais titulaire d’une maîtrise en cinéma et en relations internationales. Elle développe actuellement le long métrage Tanzanite, une odyssée futuriste et éco-responsable dirigée par des femmes qui se déroule en 2045 au Kenya. Kantarama a écrit et réalisé Ethereality, un court métrage sur la migration et le sentiment d’appartenance. Le film a été sélectionné au Chicago International Film Festival (2020), et précédemment projeté à Clermont-Ferrand (2020) et au Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (2019). Tapis Rouge, son premier long métrage a été projeté et primé dans le monde entier dont TV5Monde Meilleur long métrage francophone et Prix de la meilleure réalisation, suivi d’une sortie en salles en Suisse et en France (2017).
