Manitoba African Film Festival Inc. (MAFF Inc.)
The Manitoba African Film Festival Inc. (MAFF Inc.) is a dynamic cultural organization dedicated to showcasing African cinema and amplifying the voices of Black filmmakers in Manitoba and beyond. Established to celebrate the richness of African storytelling, MAFF Inc. provides a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to share authentic narratives that reflect the diverse experiences, histories, and cultures of the African diaspora.

Our Mission
MAFF Inc. is committed to fostering cross-cultural dialogue, increasing representation of African and Black narratives in the film industry, and supporting Black filmmakers in Canada. Through an annual film festival, industry workshops, masterclasses, and community screenings, MAFF Inc. seeks to bridge gaps in the film industry by offering opportunities for filmmakers to develop their craft, connect with industry professionals, and reach wider audiences.

We envision a world where African and Black filmmakers have equitable access to resources, funding, and platforms to tell their stories, and where audiences recognize the immense contributions of African cinema to global storytelling.
Core Objectives
Showcasing African and Black Filmmaking
MAFF Inc. curates and presents a selection of films that highlight African and Black experiences, traditions, and contemporary realities.
Community Engagement
Through screenings, panel discussions, and special events, MAFF Inc. fosters community dialogue on important social and cultural issues.
Capacity Building
We offer training, mentorship, and industry workshops for Black filmmakers in Manitoba to support their growth and development.
Industry Networking & Collaboration
The festival serves as a meeting point for filmmakers, producers, distributors, and industry stakeholders to collaborate and build long-term partnerships.

Annual Festival & Programming
Each year, MAFF Inc. hosts the Manitoba African Film Festival (MAFF), a premier event that attracts filmmakers, artists, and audiences from across Canada and internationally.
The festival features:
Film screenings of shorts, documentaries, and feature films from Africa, the Caribbean, and the African diaspora.
Filmmaker Q&A sessions and
panel discussions on key
industry topics.
Masterclasses and workshops led
by industry professionals to develop local talent.
Special events, including networking mixers, award ceremonies, and cultural showcases.
