About the movie

In telling the story of Artemisia and those who are fighting for the wider dissemination of this plant, Malaria Business puts those institutions who for the last 50 years have been trying to combat malaria up against the wall. In 2017 the disease continues to kill one child every 2 minutes, the parasite which causes it is becoming resistant to medicines, the mosquitoes get around mosquito nets and the vaccination promised for 2018 is falling short of expectations. In the meantime, researchers in Africa and elsewhere reveal that a simple infusion of Artemisia can prevent and treat malaria. This plant has been used for over 2000 years in China, and yet the WHO advises against its use and it is banned in Belgium and France.
