English— Inspired by the romantic and dreamy visuals of Wong Kar Wai and Barry Jenkins, The Test is an autobiographical film that follows an expectant couple who must wait through the weekend for the results of an amniocentesis test that may or may not confirm a suspected case of Down Syndrome.

French— Inspiré par les visuels romantiques et oniriques de Wong Kar Wai et Barry Jenkins, The Test est un film autobiographique qui suit un couple enceinte qui doit attendre tout le week-end les résultats d’un test d’amniocentèse qui peut ou non confirmer un cas suspect de Down Syndrome.

About the director

English — Bisong Taiwo is a Nigerian Canadian filmmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bisong’s films merge spirituality with genre, and over the last three years, he has written, directed, and produced three short films, a narrative feature, and a documentary short. Bisong’s short thriller, Saving Grace, screened at the 2018 Gimli Film Festival and was acquired by the Winnipeg Film Group for distribution[1]. He also directed the Christmas short film, Advent Messiah, a re-imagining of the nativity story told using miniature models which plays for Catholic schools around the province[2]. Bisong’s first narrative feature, Time Sleeper, is a sci-fi drama that screened at the 2020 Afro Prairie Film Festival, where he was presented with the Emerging Filmmaker Award by the Reelworld Screen Institute[3]. Time Sleeper also screened at the 2020 Reelworld Film Festival[4]. His documentary film, Memoirs of Salone, a collection of memories about the people and culture of Sierra Leone, screened at the 2020 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival. Bisong’s dream is to produce films that attain a level of spiritual quality matched only by the saints; simultaneously entertaining his audiences while getting them to ponder on the mysteries of theology.

French — Bisong Taiwo est un cinéaste canadien nigérian basé à Winnipeg, au Manitoba. Les films de Bisong fusionner la spiritualité avec le genre, et au cours des trois dernières années, il a écrit, réalisé et a produit trois courts métrages, un long métrage narratif et un court métrage documentaire. Le court thriller de Bisong, Saving Grace, projeté au Gimli Film Festival 2018 et a été acquis par le Winnipeg Film Group pour distribution[1]. Il a également réalisé le court métrage de Noël, Advent Messiah, une réinvention de l’histoire de la nativité racontée à l’aide de modèles miniatures qui joue pour les catholiques écoles de la province[2].
