About the movie
English— Going against her husband’s will, Ayele smuggles her daughter Mofiala to study in the city. Years later, an unknown epidemic strikes the village. Having become a doctor and researcher in bacteriology, Mofiala seems to be the ideal person to eradicate this problem.
French— Contre la volonté de son mari, Ayele fait passer clandestinement sa fille Mofiala pour qu’elle étudie en ville. Des années plus tard, une épidémie inconnue frappe le village. Devenu médecin et chercheur en bactériologie, Mofiala semble être la personne idéale pour éradiquer ce problème.
About the director
English — KPADENOU Kossi Hunkpati alias Boris KPADENOU is a 2D animated film director of Togolese nationality. Born on May 2, 1982 in Aklakou in the Prefecture of the Lakes, Boris did all his school studies in Lom leading to a baccalaureate diploma. After university studies in Language and Communication Sciences (2004), Sociology (2005), Corporate Communications, he launched into his passion: drawing. He trained in 2008 as an animated film technician at the IMAGINE Institute in Burkina Faso. In order to showcase the cultures of the peoples of sub-Saharan Africa, in 2017 he created Studio ARUKA, of which he is the Managing Director. Illustrator for several communications agencies, he produced 2D, 3D advertising spots and corporate films. In 2017, he is a semi-finalist at DISCOP Abidjan with the PETIT TRESOR project. In 2019 he won the heart of the jury of the EMERGENCE festival with the short film LOVEMAKER. He gets the same price at the same festival in 2020 with MOFIALA. Boris got his motivation from a famous quote from Mark Twain: “Because they didn’t know it was impossible, they did it”
French — KPADENOU Kossi Hunkpati alias Boris KPADENOU est un réalisateur de films d’animation 2D de Nationalité togolaise. Né le 2 mai 1982 à Aklakou dans la Préfecture des Lacs, Boris a fait toutes ses études scolaires à Lome menant au baccalauréat. Après des études universitaires en Sciences du Langage et de la Communication (2004), Sociologie (2005), Communication d’entreprise, il se lance dans sa passion : le dessin. Il a suivi une formation en 2008 en tant que technicienne en cinéma d’animation à l’institut IMAGINE au Burkina Faso. Afin de mettre en valeur le cultures des peuples d’Afrique subsaharienne, il crée en 2017 le Studio ARUKA, dont il est le directeur général. Illustrateur pour plusieurs agences de communication, il réalise 2D, 3D spots publicitaires et films d’entreprise. En 2017, il est demi-finaliste au DISCOP Abidjan avec le Projet PETIT TRESOR. En 2019 il remporte le coeur du jury du festival EMERGENCE avec le court métrage LOVEMAKER. Il obtient le même prix au même festival en 2020 avec MOFIALA. Boris tire sa motivation d’une citation célèbre de Mark Twain : « Parce qu’ils ne savaient pas que c’était impossible, ils l’ont fait”
